A Life In Song
Nigel sings songs that have inspired, informed and sustained him in his 27 years in musical theatre, including songs from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and South Pacific. Follow his fascinating musical journey through the songs of Bernstein, Weill, Boublil and Schoenberg, Lerner and Strouse, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and a host of Mother luminaries from the magical world of musicals.
Nigel Richards is an internationally acclaimed singer, actor, and teacher in Musical Theatre. His last visit to Asia was to play Quasimodo in Notre Dame de Paris in China and South Korea. Other World Tours include Tom Waits\' The Black Rider which visited Sydney, San Francisco and Los Angeles after its success at London\'s Barbican Theatre. Nigel\'s most recent appearances in London include playing the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, Dan in Kurt Weill\'s Songs from a Hotel Bedroom (Royal Opera House) and Duke Frederick in As You Like It (Wyndhams). His other West End appearances include Enjolras in Les Miserables, Lucien in Napoleon, and Dominic in Martin Guerre. Nigel is best known for his devotion to new writing having appeared in the European Premiers of Bernstein\'s Mass (conducted by Bernstein), Songs For A New World, Floyd Collins, Baby, Spend! Spend! Spend! and Hello Again. This work with new writing culminated in his 2009 award winning cd called A Shining Truth. Nigel has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall for the last four years as a soloist in the BBC Proms and has appeared in concert at the Royal Festival Hall. He is currently a visiting professor of Musical Theatre at the London School of Musical Theatre and Head of Acting Through Song at Arts Ed in London.
